Trade and economic cooperation

Joint Belarusian-Kuwaiti Committee on Economic, Trade and Technical cooperation was established. In November 2009 the first meeting of the Committee took place in the city of Kuwait. The Belarusian delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Belarus.

In September 2014 the second meeting of the Committee was held in Minsk. The Kuwaiti delegation headed by H.E. Khalifa M.Hamada, Deputy Finance Minister of Kuwait visited Belarus to participate in the meeting.

In the bilateral trade turnover Belarusian exports to Kuwait prevail over irregular imports from Kuwait.

In 2019 the Belarusian export to Kuwait amounted to 4 million USD, Kuwaiti export to Belarus – to 0,2 million USD.

In January-March 2020 Belarusian export to Kuwait amounted to 195 thousand USD.

Cooperation between Belarus and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) is an important component of the bilateral economic relations. In 2002-2004 the reconstruction project of the polyester threads production plant in the city of Svetlogorsk was successfully implemented by means of a loan provided by the Fund. Currently Belarusian competent authorities are working over possibilities of joint implementation of promising social oriented and developmental projects together with KFAED in Belarus.
