Trade and economic cooperation


The trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and the UAE has been steadily developing.

In 2017 the trade turnover between Belarus and the UAE amounted to 90,4 million USD, including exports of 78.8 million USD. Belarusian main exports to the UAE are oil products, potash fertilizers, synthetic fibers, furniture, tractors and trucks. In 2017 imports to Belarus from the UAE reached 11.6 million USD. Belarus ethylene polymers, fabrics of synthetic fibers, petroleum products and other products.

In 2018 Belarusian export to the UAE amounted to 57.9 million USD. Belarusian main exports to the UAE are trucks, oil products, potash fertilizers, synthetic fibers, furniture, petrochemical products. In 2018 imports to Belarus from the UAE reached 14.2 million USD. Belarus imported ethylene polymers, fabrics of synthetic fibers, petroleum products and other products.

In January-July 2019 Belarusian export to the UAE amounted to 44 million USD or 133,8% compared to the similar period of 2018. Import from the UAE — 11 million USD.

Trade-economic cooperation is regularly revised by the Joint Committee on cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the United Arab Emirates. The fourth meeting of the Joint Committee took place in Abu Dhabi in May 2018.

In May 2014 the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Federation of the UAE Chambers of Commerce and Industry signed an MOU on creation of the Belarusian-Emirati business council. The first meeting of the Business council took place at Abu Dhabi in October 2014, the second at Minsk in December 2016 and the third at Minsk in September 2017.

Representative offices of such Belarusian companies as Minsk Automobile Plant, Belarusian Steel Works, Sohra Group and others carry out their activities in the UAE.

Belarus actively participates in international exhibitions and investment forums held in the UAE.

In 2018 the UAE investments in the real sector and banking sector of the Belarusian economy reached 78,4 million USD, including foreign direct investment on a net basis of 43,9 million USD.

There are twenty seven companies with the participation of the UAE capital registered in Belarus.

Starting from December 2008 Minsk and Abu Dhabi connected with a direct air flight by National Emirati Airline “Etihad Airways”.
