Ambassador of Belarus to the United Arab Emirates Roman Golovchenko met with the Director General of the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation of the United Arab Emirates

On April 26, 2018 on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the Chernobyl tragedy and the International Chernobyl Disaster Remembrance Day the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the United Arab Emirates, Roman Golovchenko held a meeting with the Director General of the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation of the United Arab Emirates, Christer Viktorsson.

During the meeting Roman Golovchenko informed Christer Viktorsson about the measures taken by the Government of the Republic of Belarus to overcome and mitigate the negative consequences of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident, the national programs of the Republic of Belarus aimed at ensuring nuclear and radiation safety, as well as about some aspects of the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant in Ostrovets.

The parties discussed in details the prospects for establishment of direct cooperation between the competent authorities of Belarus and the UAE in the field of nuclear and radiation safety, in particular the possibility of organizing regular exchange of expertise and expert delegations, joint participation in national and international programs on nuclear safety, training and education of young experts and specialists on the basis of specialized Belarusian and Emirati institutions.

In the outcome of the meeting Roman Golovchenko handed over to Christer Viktorsson a thematic press release dedicated to the 32nd anniversary of the Chernobyl tragedy and the International Chernobyl Disaster Remembrance Day.
