Delegation of Belarus participates in International Participants Meeting, EXPO 2020

On October 19-20, 2017 in Dubai (UAE) the Belarusian delegation headed by the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Yeudachenka participated in International Participants Meeting of EXPO 2020 in Dubai.

Belarus became the first state to choose the site for the National Pavilion at the World Expo 2020 and on October 19, 2017 was among the first to sign the Participation Agreement.

 

In the framework of the visit to the UAE the head of the Belarusian delegation met with the Minister of State for International Cooperation of the UAE Reem Al Hashimy. The parties discussed the status and progress of preparations for EXPO-2020 as well as opportunities for the most effective participation of Belarus in this event. Reem Al Hashimy highly appreciated the preparation of the Republic of Belarus for participation in the World Exhibition, stressing that Belarus is one of the most active states cooperating with the Emirati Side on participation in Expo 2020.

 

A.Yeudachenka also met with the Deputy Secretary General of the International Exhibition Bureau Dimitri Kerkentzes. The representative of the leadership of the international organization highly appreciated the degree of interaction between Belarus and the BIE, expressing the hope that in the near future Belarus will become a member of one of the steering committees of the Organization. The Belarusian delegation also held a number of bilateral meetings with representatives of Argentina, Russia, USA, France and Japan who claim to receive the right to hold EXPO exhibitions in the future.
