Ambassador of Belarus Roman Golovchenko meets UAE Permanent Representative to the IAEA

On 14 April 2016 in Abu Dhabi Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the United Arab Emirates Roman Golovchenko met with H.E. Ambassador Hamad Ali Al Kaabi, UAE Permanent Representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Deputy Chairman of the UAE Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation with the aim to discuss the organization of a joint event to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster.

Roman Golovchenko informed the Emirati diplomat of the efforts being undertaken in the Republic of Belarus to mitigate the consequences of that catastrophe and ensure dynamic social and economic development of the affected areas of our country.

The Parties also touched upon the issues of nuclear energy development and perspectives for interaction between Belarus and the UAE in that sphere in the context of the nuclear power plant projects underway in both countries.
