On the meetings in Kuwait

On November 7-8, 2021 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Mikalai Borisevich and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the UAE and the State of Kuwait (with residence in Abu Dhabi) Andrei Luchenok paid a visit to Kuwait.

Within the framework of the visit, the first round of political consultations in the history of bilateral relations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Kuwait was held in Kuwait City.

During the consultations various areas of bilateral cooperation were discussed in detail taking into account the upcoming in 2022 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Belarus and Kuwait.

An agreement in principle was reached on raising the level and intensifying the political dialogue between the two countries in the near future, developing the legal framework and maintaining a high level of interaction in international organizations. Special attention was paid to the issues of enhancing trade and economic cooperation, resuming the work of the Joint Commission on Economic, Trade and Technical Cooperation, as well as stimulating business contacts. Prospects for cooperation in the field of education, culture, tourism and in the humanitarian sphere were discussed.

The Belarusian delegation additionally held a number of meetings with representatives of the Kuwaiti side, in particular, with the co-chairman of the Kuwaiti part of Joint Commission on Economic, Trade and Technical Cooperation, Acting Deputy Minister of Finance Asil Al Saad Al Menaifi, the Chairman of Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mohammad Al Sakr and General Director of Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development Marwan Al Ghanem.
