Political cooperation

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were established on June 6, 1997. The Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the UAE is responsible for developing cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Ambassador of Belarus to KSA (concurrently) A. Luchenok presented copies of his credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of KSA in 2019.

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Russian Federation, Raid Krimley, is accredited in the Republic of Belarus concurrently.

Saudi Arabia was visited by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus. Belarus was visited by the ministers of finance, education and justice of KSA.

Cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and Saudi Arabia within the framework of the UN and the Non-Aligned Movement is constructive. Mutual support is being provided to the elected bodies of the UN system.

The legal framework of the bilateral relations includes the General Agreement, intergovernmental agreements on the avoidance of double taxation and on mutual protection of investments, on cooperation in science and technology, interagency memorandums in the field of sports, education, on political consultations between the ministries of foreign affairs, on cooperation between NAS of Belarus and the King Abdel Aziz Scientific and Technological City, as well as an agreement on cooperation between the BelCCI and the Council of CCI’s, a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Ministry of Justice of Belarus and the Ministry of Justice of Saudi Arabia.
