Political cooperation

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the State of Kuwait were established on 25 May 1992.

Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the UAE is responsible for the development of cooperation with the State of Kuwait.

H.E. Abdulaziz Al Adwani, Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to the Russian Federation is concurrently accredited to the Republic of Belarus.

In October 2002 the Belarusian delegation headed by H.E. Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus paid an official visit to Kuwait.

Belarus and Kuwait enjoy constructive collaboration within the UN. Kuwait has been an active supporter of the Belarusian initiative in the UN to combat trafficking in persons. The two countries have been successfully cooperating in terms of support of candidates for the elective bodies of the UN organizations.

 The legal framework of the bilateral relations includes intergovernmental agreements on economic, trade and technical cooperation, on the promotion and the reciprocal protection of investments, on the avoidance of double taxation, on air service, as well as Memorandum of Understanding on Joint Consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Agreement on Cooperation between the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Agreement on Cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research.

Draft treaties on legal assistance, agreements on mutual visa exemption for the holders of diplomatic and service passports, on cooperation in the sphere of prevention and response to emergency situations, agriculture are under consideration by the sides.
